A short biography
Min-Cheol Kim joined KIST as post doctoral researcher in August 2018. Before joining KIST, he worked in Yonsei University as a post doc. Dr. Kim is an expert on development and application of density functional theory (DFT) methods. During his Ph.D. and post doc. in Yonsei university, he developed a pratical way of analyzing errors in DFT calculations and a framework called density-corrected density functional theory (DC-DFT), as a way to reduce the error in DFT calculations with severe density-driven-error from inaccurate self-consistent densities. Currently at KIST, he is participating in the creative materials discovery project elucidating non-conventional reaction mechanisms of novel clean-energy catalysts for H2O2 synthesis and electro-chemical synthesis of NH3, utilizing and developing state-of-the-art DFT methods.
