A short biography
Sang Soo Han joined KIST as a senior research scientist in June 2013. Before joining KIST, he worked in Korea Research Institute of Standards and Science (KRISS) as a senior research scientist. And, he has been serving as the Head of Computational Science Research Center in KIST since September 2020. Dr. Han has a specialty of multiscale simulations for catalysis, porous materials, and batteries such as reactive force field. Based on this, he has also been leading a research center for development of novel catalysts for H2O2 and NH3 synthesis since 2016, supported by the Korea government (creative materials discovery project). Recently, his research interests has extended to data-driven material design based AI, in particular, bypassing quantum mechanical calculations and synthesis planning. Moreover, he is developing an autonomous lab for development of nanomaterials based AI and robots. Dr. Han has published more than 100 scientific papers and holds more than 50 current or pending Korea/USA/Europe/Japan/China patents.
